Step by Step to the Finish Line
This lesson is a little different. I’ll share with you a personal adventure I entered into back in 2011, a journey of a different type. While our Journey in Faith is an internal experience, my journey was physical. Yet, there are many similarities that can teach us lessons we can use for all of our life.
Think about goals you’ve set for yourself over your years. When did you set a course to reach a destination of a certain accomplishment. These are all journeys and we can use the disciplines we learn while on physical journeys so we can cross the finish line on this journey.
Your Journey in Faith is specially designed to help you develop your faith as you experience your sacred time of extended prayer and fasting. Take this opportunity to jearn more about yourself and the changes you can make in your life of faith.
Click on this link: Daniel Fast Day Eight – Download and print the worksheet. Use it after you’ve listened to the video teaching. If you keep a journal, you may want to use the worksheet to guide you and then write the answers in your journal. Allow God’s Word to soak into your heart. Meditate on His truths. Nourish your spirit on the Bread of life.

Susan I admire your perseverance of challenging yourself in to going even further in journeys. One in particular the 500 mile walk to Santiago.Thats the way it is in life, you face the challenges ,but you welcome them and overcome them in Jesus. You open yourself much to hear from the Lord and he rewards you for it.
“Unexpected blessings” YES! That is the perfect way to describe the Camino. I was blessed in a huge way to get to walk with my mother 3 years ago. You are so right comparing the feeling on the Camino with fellow pilgrims to our recognition of others in Christ. My mother and I have also talked about going again, but to tell you the truth I don’t feel like my Camino ended in Spain! Thank you for your incredible encouragement through Jesus.
Buen Camino Susan!
Buen Camino, Carol.
Ah, another pilgrim. Yes, such an amazing experience. You know that words can’t come close to describing the experience. One that truly needs to be lived. I walked in 2011 and still think about it often. Life lessons from the Camino continue! You are so right, it doesn’t end in Spain. Truly an anointed experience for all who do it as a spiritual pilgrimage.
Ultreya!
This really inspired me and resonated within my spirit!
Thank you and God Bless You!
This study was spot on! Great story, and awesome accomplishment to you. Congratulations. It hit home with me because I’m at a point where I feel completely tired and worn out on trying to breakthrough, or crossover (hence, the Daniel Fast); thinking the payoff is not worth the effort anymore; and I haven’t reached the goal after so many years. Difficult knowing when to move on in a new direction or to keep going forward for that goal. However, this fast and your guidance in these lessons are speaking to me. I believe I will receive the answer and restoration needed. Thank you.
Hi Susan, Thank you for sharing your Camino trek with us.That is a fantastic journey by walking. I am sure God was with you all the way. I also thank you for all the help with this my very first Daniel fast. I am 75 and was starting to bog down and get depressed, gaining weight and so many physical problems I was getting scared. A friend of mine who brought me to be born again with his bible study group a year ago steered me to your website as our mens group was going to do the Daniel fast Jan 8 to Jan 28. You have also brought me closer to God on my journey to walk with Christ. This is my first post as I had printer problems and got a 3 day late start with the lessons. I am now caught up and am doing extremely well with the fast both spiritual and with the food. In eight days I am feeling a whole lot better physically and mentally, spiritually I feel I am so very much closer to God. The lesson maybe number five where you told us Jesus brought us to the Father and we are now righteous was a powerful connection for me with my journey to walk with Christ. Thank you for all the fantastic help you have given us and may God Bless you and your journey in life forever. Bob Turek
Hi Susan! This is my third year following your fast. Just wanted to let you know I have been truly blessed with what you have shared with us so far. It is about going deeper with God and His Word. Thank you for being obedient to the Holy Spirit.
God bless you!
Hi Susan. That was truly a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing that with talking about strengthening our faith. I have been in need of a real fast for a long time. I have gotten way too fleshly and carnal and this fast has been great for me. I want God to use me. I have things that I want to do. And I know those things cannot happen without me doing work. I have to do this no matter how it looks and how I feel. Pressing in knowing what lies ahead for me. It is going to take work, time, and preparation. But the end result is a better and stronger me. So I continue to believe that I will finally get out of the way so I can have the life God wants me to have.
Hi Susan fully knowing and to understand that God is always within our midst. You know as you have mentioned in the clip that we sometimes feel that what we are doing to gain a more closer and a more Spiritual life in Christ is hard, telling the truth that in the first few days of the Daniel fast I felt like that. I then said to myself ,but this is not me I am not a quitor. With this said I have asked God every morning, every evening to walk in His Spirit and to tel you that I have found so much joy in doing the fast as this is my first time. Being a born Muslim converting to Christianity ,fasting is suppose to come to me naturally. Having to fast when I was a Muslim I just fasted, but I have come to find in this fasting I feel more closer to the Word of God and I feel the depth in His Word. If I could tell people the good God has done in my life “OUT OF THIS WORLD” Thus far it has been an amzing exsperience and I can’t wait for what the Almighty is still going to reveal to me.🙌 I thank you Susan for being the driving force in my life in this time. God Bless🙏
Susan, Thank you for sharing this lovely experience. It is indeed encouraging. I cannot even begin to convey the value of your time, skills, commitment, prayers as we walk this journey of “The Daniel Fast”!
I feel such a closeness to the Lord in this season, and such a heightened understanding as I read the Bible. I feel like I know you in the Lord, and am so encouraged knowing you are rooting me and the others on. Blessings to you. Susan, you are a jewel!
Thank you so much Susan for sharing your story. It helps me to make the connection with my journey in faith!! I pray that God will continue to use you and bless for the amazing work you are doing for his kingdom.
Thank you Susan. This was so good. I am so encouaged to stay on the journey with Christ. This video had so many different messages for me. I am sharing these devitionals with my family. I will be recommending your site to my church as well. God bless you!
Awe, God is good! I am blessing knowing you are being fed.
Thanks for your message.
Thank you Susan for sharing your story of your walk on the Camino. It was very inspirational and encouraging. You are a blessing.
The photo of the woman hugging you when you made it up the hill brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing this experience. I have truly been feeling a little discouraged with myself because I haven’t made the time to do these lessons daily. I get so caught up in work and kids and my graduate studies, and I end up going back and trying to catch up on 2 and 3 lessons at a time. But just like your journey to Santiago, I will keep walking. The food part hasn’t been difficult at all, but making the time has. But I will not quit. Thank you and God Bless You.
Thank you Susan for sharing. It was excellent and inspirational! God blessings to you.
Thank you Susan for sharing your spiritual and uplifting journey. I am truly blessed and encouraged to walk alongside you as I embark on my journey in faith. As you were sharing I felt a deep sense of God presence. Thank you and may God richly bless you.
Just curious- what month were you on the Camino? Great word picture of our journey of faith. Thank you for sharing
Hi Evelyn,
We started walking on August 20th and continues for 36 consecutive days. The summer crowds were ahead of us and the fall weather was still nice. Very little rain. There were some blazing hot days. But for the most part the temperatures and conditions were good. Also, since the summer crowds were ahead of us or gone, we were able to get space in the refugios.
Thank you Susan for sharing with us your 500 mile walk on the Camino! Beautiful pictures! I would love to do that one day… What a similarity it is to our journey on this fast and trying to get to a destination where God is leading us… just like your journey, as you said it got hard some days, the weather, the tired feet, the feeling of giving up and etc… But when our eyes are on the prize, so to speak we keep going… I’m seeking God for so much during this fast that I won’t give up… He has been so good at keeping me and I will continue to hold on and keep going… Thank you so much for allowing God to use you… Everytime I do this fast I’m so blessed by the devotions and your testimonies… Blessings to you and all that are enduring this fast…
Thanks Susan for sharing your story. It was such a blessing to hear! Im feeling greatly encouraged to continue my walk with God and let Him strenghten my weak areas. God bless you!
Susan, I thank you today for sharing that experience. Although it is a physical experience, I can make the connections to this journey of faith. This Daniel Fast is a journey that can feel like a 500 mile walk. On this journey we are expected to gain strength, knowledge, understanding, health, experiences and make connections.
Your message was very encouraging, and I stand more committed today on this journey. I am encouraged to stay the course and finish the race. I am encouraged to keep going, step by step, one day at a time.
I pray that God will continue to bless you as you continue to be an inspiration to many.
Blessings.
Shalom!
Love your story! It lined up with what I was praying about this morning. Putting down this flesh and walking the spirit is truly a challenge and pleasure at the same time.Last time I went on this fast was a few years ago. I wanted to go on one and asked God to help me. Went to the grocery store and found your book there. God told me to get it. I was struggling with our ministry (I’m a Pastors wife) and our adopted son. I was frustrated and angry. I focused on these during the fast and was completely delivered from the frustration and anger. This opened the door to real victory… in my heart. The problems I was experiencing were truly inside of me…not the church members or our blessing of a son. This peace has lasted all these years. This year I continue to deal with other areas as I desire to be more like Jesus in being a light to my circle of influence at work, neighbors and community. Thanks for answering your call Susan and for pressing on in the ministry.
Thank you Susan. What an on time message for me. I am beginning to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit as each day goes on telling me He has me I can do this fast and finish strong. The Lord God in heaven knew I needed this fast for health reasons and and I had said I was going to fast a few days a week but I just wouldn’t let my food go.Well someone told me about you and what a blessing your lesson have been to me.(It has not been without a fight or struggle but that when I knew that God is leading me down the right path.) Each lesson is so powerful and I realize on this morning I can do this if I walk in obedience to what the Spirit of God is leading and telling me to do. You lesson confirmed that. God bless you and all those who work with you on get God’s word out.
Thank you for sharing. The Camino journey sounds like an awesome spiritual trek that I’d like to learn more about.
Susan, I first learned of the Daniel Fast through my sister-in-law in 2014 and ever since I have wanted to do it. I just didn’t get around to doing so. There is a saying that nothing happens before its time and I guess my time to start the Daniel Fast was 2017. So here I am on the journey.
Today’s lesson really resonated with me; maybe it’s because I love walking. Although I have not done such a long journey, I have taken long walks into the hills.
I had fun completing the worksheet. Thanks for sharing your experiences and maybe, just maybe, I will walk the Camino de Santiago and meet up with you there.
Thanks dear Susan. Iam on a journey too & I would like to get the finish line. Am writing a Ph.D. proposal & I want to finish it & submit, I really need His grace so that I can make it. Many times I don’t feel like reading the many books, reviews & articles. Yet I must go on pray with me.
Am glad that this fasting is opening up things that I didn’t know can be related to my spiritual walk.
Thanks for allowing God to use to blessing us.
Thank you Susan , for sharing of your journey! I, too, am on a journey in trying to get my friend home from a life sentence in prison for a domestic violence situation. God is using her mightily where she is, however, corruption is behind the reason for her sentencing. We know our battle is not against flesh and blood. Your devotional was a beautiful reminder that regardless of the journey we are on, we have a destination and are not alone! Thank you!
good morning, my church started the fast on Jan 1st, so we are on day 15, can we get those lessons
Hi Annie,
I create these lesson daily, or maybe a couple in a day. However, these lessons aren’t really about the fast. Their about developing a lifestyle of faith. So you can still be on this Journey in Faith, even when you’ve completed the fast. I hope this helps.
How awesome that you’re talking about this today. God told me last year April, that its time for me to do it. I’ve wanted to do this walk since I am 17.
I am leaving for my camino in 56 days and this fast is such a wonderful preparation for me to pray for my pilgrimage.
I am preparing my body, mind and Soul. My blog and so forth.
Buen Camino!
I had walking on the Camino on my vision list for 16 years before I was able to do it. I hope to do it again. I might be doing it in 2018.
Be blessed! It’s an amazing experience with unexpected blessings awaiting you!
how lovely of you to reply. Thank you so much for all you are doing.
Be abundantly blessed.
Kindest regards
Buki
Inspiring and engaging! Thank you Susan for sharing and teaching us all. I appreciate your sharing your knowledge on fasting and the correlation spiritually. Be richly blessed as God continues to shine through you!
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity you gave us on this journey to have a closer relation with our Lord. God Bless you Susan
