The Spirit vs the Flesh!
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.“ Galatians 5:16
Our study’s primary focus is making a choice to walk in the Spirit and how to develop our faith so God’s truth is central in our lives. Today’s lesson includes some practical applications you can use when you find yourself giving into the ways of the flesh. First we must be aware and make sure we are in touch with ourselves. But then we can be equipped by using tools, strategies and practices to help us overcome the very things we don’t want.
Your Journey in Faith is specially designed to help you develop your faith as you experience your sacred time of extended prayer and fasting. Take this opportunity to learn more about yourself and the changes you can make in your life of faith.

If you keep a journal, you may want to use the worksheet to guide you and then write the answers in your journal. Allow God’s Word to soak into your heart. Meditate on His truths. Thank you Suzan for these lessons. They really helped me during my time of fasting and I ensure that I listen to each one day by day. Today is day nineteen in my journey and I’m happy that I started. Please help me pray for my husband Earl Duncan Snr. that he will receive an increase in his salary or a better job and my sister Sharon Dale to receive a job.
Thank you
Hi Susan
Thanks for that session you really nailed it. I struggled Friday night as I had been so busy all day and had a lot on my mind. Later in the afternoon I nearly got tempted to break my fast as something unpleasant happened and I nearly lost it, the flesh wanted to take over, think it was a spiritual attack! It was awful and I got rather wound up.
Hi Susan, Im not getting day eighteen’s video. I have been really blessed by the messages even thought I started late. Some have been reminders and others have given me new revelation on the scriptures. This lesson I know I really need to hear.
Be blessed and I’m looking forward to receiving the message.
Hi Susan, the video finally downloaded. I guess it was my net on go slow.
Yeah, tech can get in the way sometimes! 🙂 I’m glad all is well now.
Glad you were able to get on! 🙂
Hey Susan, Thank you so much for the time and effort you have used to help others through this Daniel Fast. This was my first time and I am on day 19 (have NOT given into temptations). I have realized certain aspects of my life that need change and have received valuable pointers from your videos/worksheets. I have truly had life changing experiences and continue to work on developing a deeper relationship with God.
I appreciate all your lessons that have helped guide me in this endeavor. It is an exciting and rewarding Journey.
Praise God, Maridee. I am so very happy for you. God has so much to give us. And when we still ourselves and focus on Him, the revelations and blessings pour into our lives.
Be blessed and thank you for your encouraging words.
How long will these lessons remain available? I started my journey a day later . I want to say thank you for the enlightening lessons. Be blessed in Jesus name.🙏🏽
The lessons will be here for at least a month longer. So you’re good! 🙂
Thank you Susan. I’m so blessed in this journey. I’ve seen God’s faithfulness and He’s answering my prayers and opening doors of opportunities. Spirit vs flesh is a daily battle! Thank you for the encouragement
Praise be to God. He is faithful.
Love to you, dear one.
Great lesson. I am doing the Daniel’s Fast with my mother and sister. And this lesson was amazing. All of the lessons have been amazing and before I knew your topic, I was going into fasting this year asking God to increase my faith and trust in Him. And when I saw this topic, “Journey of Faith” I knew my prayers had been answered.
The comment I want to make is that I thought this lesson would have been amazing to have toward the beginning of the Fast because it would have definitely helped with the temptation of wanting to eat foods I knew were not part of the fast. I would have the tool to say, “So what?” I do appreciate the words of today’s lesson and will take your pointers of both saying so what and pushing the pause button.
Thank you for this very encouraging and rewarding JOURNEY!!!
Thank you again for this lesson which encourages me to exercise my will in controlling the flesh. It is so subtle. this battle between the flesh and the spirit. no wonder Jesus has said if we want to follow him we must take up our cross daily. t is a daily battle. As I reflect on this message, i now realize how I have been surrendering to the flesh all my life. Now that I am aware that God’s spirit lives in me, I have decided from now on to discipline my flesh with God’s help. The potato chip message really brought it home to me. So far through this fast i have been resisting the temptations i face with food on a daily basis. I love Chicken and when I am faced with cooking it for the rest of my household it has been a big challenge to resist tasting and eating it. But I have been faithful to the fast and I am happy that through this fast i am overcoming the flesh. Thanks again Susan. I like the idea of talking to yourself and depending on the wiser you to direst your path.
Thank you Susan. This is indeed the best way to start the new year.
Thanks for lesson 18.getting co trol of my flesh. I’m challenge every day on my job and I always let my flesh take over. Today after spending time on this lesson today I won. Thank you
Yes, God is faithful. I have seen the hand of God during this time of fast and prayer. I can truly say I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Thank you Susan for the daily teachings, I’m learning a lot and I pray God will continue to work in me
Yes! Great lesson… So What flesh if you are saying “I’m missing my Starbucks coffee.. So what!? I’m in control here and I’m not going to have any.. Praise God, I’m loving this time with the Lord.. Thanks Susan, your messages are loud and clear… Praying that the Lord will continue to bless your ministry as you reach out to bless others…
Morning Susan
I’m enjoying this journey with you and others. It has open my eyes to the truth in many ways as I grow in faith. By you sharing your weaknesses and how you are or have overcome has helped me, to see how God uses victories to strengthen someone else in his or her journey. May God continue to bless your ministry. Looking forward to having more adventures with the Holy Spirit and you in the future. Thank you
Day 18 lesson truly impacted me. I will be listening to it again and applying it to my life. Thank you Susan!
Hi Susan, during an overall review of my notes last night, I noted on day 6 that Eph 2:19 says I am “of the household of God.” That opened up a new path for me. I relate my daughter coming home and getting whatever she desires here. God has provided that same opportunity for us. We are in His household and can have what we want in our Father’s house. We are joint heirs with Christ and what’s His is ours free of charge. Awesome revelation. Thank you so much for this study.
Lovely image of your daughter coming home and the love you have for her.
God is so good.
I love the push pause concept. Taking a moment to reflect on your desired outcome, your goals, not just dietary but in life as a whole. Is this decision I’m making right now bringing me closer or further from my goals. Also, I never looked at cravings as a temptation. It just seems like a trap not worth falling into. Most of the time we regret giving in to these temptations.
Thank you Susan.
Mathew 21:22’And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”
Hi Susan-thank you so much for all the messages provided for each day, they have been so helpful as to guide us and have a purpose why we fast and pray each day.For the very first time I have fasted with a purpose. Me and my husband decided to both join the Daniel fast, I must say it hasn’t been easy but it has been worth it.I am so grateful.Today my husband got a JOB after being at home for 4 years. All glory to his name. He is truly the GOD that he says he is.
Thank you, Susan. This lesson has shown me that am ok. I do the things that you talk about but I have one thing that seem to be harder to overcome. I have prayed about it while on this fast and am waitin on the Lord for the answer. So what! Am NOT going back.
Good morning Susan, Thank you for this message. I really needed to hear this message. i so quickly over react, second guess myself alot, and just allow my flesh to think for me sometimes on certain situations. I am slowly trying to hit that pause button, reset my mind. Thank you!
Hahahaha the pearl of wisdom got me – I was ready to take down copious notes.
So what!
stay blessed
